After reading about Sarah and George’s crafty winter wedding at Mymoon restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you’ll want to visit this neighborhood hot spot for yourself and cozy up to something, or someone, delicious. The restaurant, which served as the couple’s ceremony and reception location, was the perfect spot for Sarah and George to showcase their love of literature, music and of course, one another. They literally lit up the night.

Writes Sarah, “The dress and veil weren’t my main focus for the day, really. Since George and I paid for the wedding ourselves, we wanted to keep the fashion spending under control. I went to

David’s Bridal to try things on, and easily found a dress that I felt really worked for me. I thought the Galina dress had bits of fun and modern touches while still being pretty classic. And best, it didn’t break the budget. I had more fun with my shoes and accessories, for sure. The red shoes were satin with a ruffle detail from VANELi. The hair clip I found on Etsy at Bridal Wear, the pearl necklace was a gift from George’s mother, and a good friend made the earrings for me.  My MOH, my sister, Carrie, wore a dress of her choosing from Nordstrom. And George got a new suit and tie.”

My favorite choices were certainly in the room at the wedding. The  custom art by author/illustrator Grace Lin was our starting and focal point.  And the little cardinals spread around the room on every table were in honor of our loved ones, especially grandparents, who couldn’t be with us. There was a definite book theme, with the tables named for favorite books from our childhoods, our place cards were handmade bookmarks, and our favors were again selections from our most-loved books from childhood, with a custom bookplate with the Grace Lin art and the words “Thank you for being part of our story.”
