have you gained weight since your wedding? (it’s okay if you have…)

Yesterday I wrote some of the factors that contribute to post-wedding weight gain for my newlywed column at The Examiner. (That waffle maker doesn’t fire itself up every morning you know.) Admittedly, I’ve noticed that my honeymoon jeans are a little less, um forgiving, than they were nine months ago. As it turns out, most newlyweds gain an average of 10 pounds during their first year of marriage. Maybe more! So while I’m not concerned that I’m the only newlywed with a little more to love, I am ready to kick myself out of this post-wedding weight category and get my waist back to its pre-wedding measurements. To read the rest of my article, click here. And feel free to weigh in on your own experience with post-wedding weight gain. (Why didn’t anyone tell us about this….!)

I've definitely already made peace with the fact that i will gain at least five pounds ON the honeymoon. I'll take it off afterward. I'm not going to sweat it though: Paris's bread, wine, and cheese shall be mine!

I gained about 12 pounds during our first year and have lost 11.2 at our 18 month mark. It's easy to get caught up in the fun of married life and let yourself go, and sometimes a little too much! It feels great to be getting back in shape and feeling more in control of my body and choices. The best part– my husband has loved my body every step (and pound) of the way. :)

We got married about a month and a half ago, and I just worked out for the first time since the wedding TODAY! I just felt like every bit of my energy was zapped post-wedding… plus, I was ready to be lazy! But back on track today. As I told my sister, if I didn't get back to the gym soon I might as well go and get the stereotypical ultra-short post-wedding haircut, too ;-)

I have gained 15 pounds since my wedding almost 2 years ago. Determined to break this pattern, I've started a low-cal organic all natural diet (with one cheat day a week.) Doing well! I'll keep you posted… Ironically, my husband has LOST weight since the wedding. Darn him!

Hmm… I guess I have to say that I'm sad that I weigh about the same as I did at our wedding 6 years ago cuz I like myself best 5 lbs lighter. I actually lost weight after the wedding and kept it off for years. Now my love affair with beer is killing me… lol

I think that your bodies forget what to do with food, since so many brides go on diets and try to lose weight for the wedding. It's hard to maintain that after the big day. But, I'm sure your hubbies love you just the same! You are still the same person!!
