I was recently tagged by Bailee’s Bride and Decor Amor. Having exhausted my supply of random facts, I thought I’d share some scenes from our trip to Italy instead. For previous tagged! posts, click here and here.
1. Most of our photos from days 1 and 2 in Rome were taken at night. Don’t underestimate the effects of jet lag on a day old bride and groom! We went to bed at 10AM and woke for breakfast at midnight. Not to worry. Rome is a city that never sleeps and perfect for twilight touring. Above, The Coliseum, also known as “Amphitheatre Flavio.”
2. It’s nearly impossible not to eat well while in Italy but every city has its gems. Here are some of our favorite meals from Florence. Pizzeria del BOCCANEGRA (Via Ghibellina, 124/R; located near the Teatro Verdi, we were given strict instructions not to eat pizza anywhere else in Florence but here. ZAZA’ (Piazza del Mercato Centrale 36R; I was a regular here at least twice a week when I lived in Florence so I was thrilled to see that it was still open and still as good as I remember. TI (Piazza della Passera) is located between The Palazzo Pitti and the Churce of Santo Spirito.
3. However our favorite cafe was the small private patio just outside our hotel door, open all night long and serving the best wine in town. Thanks to our friends at the Hotel Davanzati for treating us so well.
4. Sidewalk shopping in Florence.

5. You must suspend all belief when you visit Venice otherwise by the time you realize what surrounds you, it will all be over. I wouldn’t leave without visiting The Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
6. In Milan, I disappeared into a gigantic Zara for about a hour. When I emerged, my husband had joined a student protest in support of I don’t know what.
7. Fortunately our hotel was a haven of serenity that included champagne and flowers. But by far one of our favorite memories from Milan was meeting up with Didi (of Little Winter Bride) and her husband at the ultra hip Frida Cafe. Didi, now you’re tagged too!

Ohhh, your photos are wonderful – what a lovely honeymoon!

(Peggy Guggenheim in Venice and the Zara in Milan… I had the same itinerary when I was there!)

I love that you went into Zara and emerged to find your husband having joined a protest. This sounds exactly like something mine would do! But that big Zara sounds right up my alley ;)
